Fort Nelson near Fareham in Hampshire was a fitting venue for a Mabway Graduation Ceremony, celebrating the completion and award of an NVQ Level 3 Engineering Technicians course for 12 Saudi Arabian students from BAE Systems Saudi Development & Training.
Mabway’s Chairman, Mark O’Reilly, welcomed the students and the guest of honour, Maabar Al Alawi the VP of HR at BAE Systems Saudi Development and Training, before the presentation of course certificates and gifts alongside Mabway’s Managing Director, Anne O’Reilly.
The Engineering Technician course run by Mabway’s Maritime Training team encompassed a broad range of electrical, electronic and mechanical hand skills underpinned by academic modules and bespoke Original Equipment Manufacturer courses. With strict adherence to government guidelines, the course was delivered throughout 16 months of Covid restrictions including several lockdown periods, which is a credit to the students and Mabway’s partners - most notably the Portsmouth Engineering Training Association (PETA).
The 12 Saudi students will now return to the Kingdom fully equipped to undertake their new roles of providing shore base support to the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF).
